The only thing that doesn’t grow with the ROLAND 900 is the workload

Efficiency is the art of achieving more output from the same input and here the ROLAND 900 is supreme: with comparable makeready times, this highly automated large-format press produces considerably more multiple-up images than presses in smaller format classes. That is only one good example of our “Value Added Printing” strategy – you can find many more on this and the following pages.

Fast ink change. QuickChange Surface is only one example of the time savings made possible by the QuickChange functions. The ink-repelling coating of the ink fountain surfaces reduces the time needed for changing inks by up to 50 percent.

Fast coating change. With the QuickChange Coating system*, every coating module has two hose and pump systems and two chambered doctor blades. This enables coating change-overs from UV to dispersion coating, for example, to be done faster than ever before. In addition, the multipurpose clamping system QuickChange Clamp* reduces the time needed for changing to different types of coating form material by up to 50 percent.

Non-stop printing. The non-stop* feeder and delivery specially developed for packaging printing provide continuous high output and thus the highest productivity. AUPASYS materials logistics systems* also increase productivity and are ideal solutions for industrial-scale packaging printers.

Inexpensive reel paper. Reel paper is often less expensive than sheeted paper, and with the ROLAND InlineSheeter* this can be run on the ROLAND 900. Particularly for book printing, the combination of ROLAND InlineSheeter and ROLAND InlineBackprinter is economically unbeatable.

The ROLAND 900 offers product portfolio flexibility.

The more options you have, the more orders you can obtain. With the ROLAND 900 you can specify your own product portfolio. Substrate versatility ranges from the thinnest paper to the thickest carton. Thanks to the relatively flat sheet travel path, even stiff substrates can be printed safely and in high quality.

Substrate versatility for all market segments. The ROLAND 900 has been a proven performer for a wide variety of applications over many years, from commercial printing through publications, packaging printing and book printing right up to niche applications such as printing of displays, corrugated board, or foils.

Inline finishing equipment. The ROLAND InlineSlitter* slits the sheets in half before they reach the delivery. For example, format 5 or 6 sheets with 32 pages can be slit in half and then finished as medium format sheets in the postpress operations.

Inline coating for application flexibility. The ROLAND 900 can be equipped with a single* (ROLAND InlineCoater*) or double coating module*. The extremely high precision of the chambered doctor blade system ensures exact dosage and uniform quality of the coating layer. The double coating version permits a double hit of dispersion coating or a combination of printing with conventional inks and then applying a water-based primer and UV coating.

ROLAND InlineBackprinter*. This reverse printing unit can be used to provide interesting press configurations for book printers or packaging printers.

Printing from sheets or reels. Equipped with a ROLAND InlineSheeter* the ROLAND 900 can do both, utilizing the advantages of reel paper but still having the benefits of a sheet alignment system at the infeed. The change-over from sheets to reels and vice versa is fast and easy.

The ROLAND 900 runs like a watch mechanism. Only much more precisely.

Even the most precise watch loses accuracy after a certain time but not a ROLAND 900. During installation the backlash of the impression cylinder and transferter gears is eliminated right down to the last micrometer – for permanently optimal sheet transfer from one printing unit to the next.

Highly precise register. Sturdy press construction, the combination of premium-quality drive gears and hydro-damping, plus a longitudinal shaft for presses with five or more printing units prevent play in the gear teeth which ensures outstanding printing quality.

Optimal color consistency. The computer-aided design of the inking units results in high storage capacity and fast reaction to setting changes. Even with difficult subjects, consistently excellent printing quality is assured.

Gentle sheet transport. The double-diameter impression cylinders and transferters provide a relatively flat sheet travel path – a great advantage especially with stiffer substrates.

Straight-edged delivery stacks. Straight-edged delivery stacks are a prerequisite if the job is to move on to the finishing operations without delay. This is ensured by the combination of sheet brakes and take-off grippers.

Inline quality assurance. The ROLAND InlineInspector* checks every sheet and detects even the slightest deviation to the reference sheet at full printing speed.
