America East show 2009
The America East show was held at its traditional location at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey, Pennsylvania this year. The attendance was down slightly, but over 350 newspaper editorial and production people mingled with over 250 trade press, vendors and educational people to make a very diverse group. Industry professionals came to the show to gain insights and techniques at the seminars and workshops. On the show floor, attendees wanted to hear about the newest technologies and how other production facilities were benefitting from implementation.
Traffic at the manroland booth was brisk. PRINTVALUE was featured and many operations and financial staff members were looking for ways to upgrade or rebuild existing machines. Most were also planning for the future and were gathering information on the next large capital investment to tailor production to their customer base. There were also discussions on possible mergers and consolidations and how production operations could be integrated. manroland's printadvice consulting service provides analysis and recommendations on a variety of operational and financial issues regarding projects of this type.
Craig Simon reported strong interest in the latest manroland developments for newspaper presses. "Everyone wanted to know about AutoPrint, the new level of automation introduced at Drupa last year. We ran the presentations constantly on the new plate loading robot co-developed by manroland and Kuka."
